Volunteers sought for Leesburg community cleanup

LEESBURG, FL – The city of Leesburg and Keep Lake Beautiful invite residents, church groups, businesses and organizations to join our community and trails cleanup on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 7:00am-11:00am. Community Clean-up

Leesburg is hosting four locations this year. Three city parks are designated sites: John L. Johnson Park, 201 Mills Street; Berry Park, 2121 Johns Avenue; and the Susan Street Complex, 940 Susan Street. The final location is the downtown/trail area, where workers will meet up at the clock in Towne Square, 510 W. Main Street. Gloves, safety vests, trash bags and water will be provided to all volunteers.

“These events are a great way for the city to help residents instill pride in their neighborhoods and encourage them to work together to keep areas clean and welcoming”, said City Manager Al Minner. “We encourage everyone to participate to help make this cleanup a success.”

Volunteers can pre-register online at www.KeepLakeBeautiful.com or at any of the specified locations. Staff will register, provide equipment and assign volunteers to cleanup areas.

The public is invited to participate and students will be awarded volunteer hours. For more information, call the Public Works Department at 352-435-9442.
